Multi-award winning showstoppers and Aunty Meredith’s bluegrass band of choice, The Davidson Brothers, have released ‘Wanderlust’ – their first new album in 3 years on 20th June, 2014.
Their previous album “Here to Stay” not only enjoyed airplay on Triple J, it also received a 4-star review from The Age, which declared, “All music should be this much fun.”
There are 10 original songs on the album, including the aptly named “Bottle Cappin’ Back Crackin’ Blues,” which is one of three instrumentals, along with a rock remix of a new aoustic track also found on this album called ‘Lost In Amsterdam.’
An engineer currently woking in a bottle cap factory for wine and beer by day, Lachlan said, “Wanderlust is our first album in three years, which is a long time for us! It’s also the first album that we’ve produced entirely in Melbourne in ten years and it was pretty hard work during the week after a hard day of bottle cappin’ in time to sweat it out in the studio. And we’ve played a tonne of great gigs in the city over the last few years.”
In addition to being a Doctor of Chiropractic and a new father (baby Oscar is just over a year old), Hamish kept himself busy this year by writing songs with Lachlan, gigging all over Melbourne, including playing recently with Dan Sultan, and driving up from Bendigo to Melbourne for recording sessions for the album through the week.
Hamish says, “Melbourne has been really good for us and we’ve had a great time working with the friends we’ve made here in the past few years. Our sound has benefited from all those influences and we’ve really enjoyed sharing bluegrass music with a broader rock n roll audience, too.”
The album was produced by Hamish and Lachlan and was engineered by Adam Rhodes (Cat Empire, Paul Kelly, Angus Stone, The Blackchords, etc)
