Ross Wilson & the Urban Legends – Celeb Cricket Match For Charity

Sunday 4th February 2007
Batting for the Battlers –
Celebrity Charity Cricket Match

Batting for the Battlers is St Kilda’s annual Celebrity Charity Cricket Match. Once again, the famous and the infamous will pick their sides and take to the field (this year at the Ross Gregory Oval in St Kilda from 11am onwards) to raise money for St Kilda’s Sacred Heart Mission.

The match will include Joel Edgerton, John Jarrett, Gary Sweet, Dermott Brereton, James Brayshaw, Dave Hughes, William McInnes, Stephen Curry, Russell Gilbert, Brett Tucker, Shane Bourne, Damien Oliver, Robert Taylor, Brett Tucker, Des Dowling, David Lightfoot, Steve Le Marquand, Asha Keddie, Steve Whittaker aka The King of Tonga, Geoff Morrell, Aaron Pedersen, Michael Veitch and many more.

They play in two teams Veg Out (named for St Kilda’s renowned community garden) vs The Vineyard (named for St Kilda’s iconic bar/restaurant). Those not taking to the field will take turns on the commentary mics, cracking jokes and sending up the players, making for an incredibly entertaining and hilarious day.

Ross & the Urban Legends will play at half-time, and Nick Barker and Phil Ceberano will play sets at half-time and after the match. Before the match, David Hobson will sing the National Anthem backed by the Choir of Hard Knocks.

Nova 100.3 FM’s Casanovas will broadcast live crosses from the ground. There will also be a half-time auction of goods donated by St Kilda retailers plus the painting used for the poster/billboards by Archibald Prize winner Lewis Miller.

DADDY COOL AT THE BIG DAY OUT?

DADDY COOL AT BIG DAY OUT? WHAT THE?

Dear Cool watchers,

Thanks for the phone calls and the SMS messages. I heard Triple J’s Daddy Cool Big Day Out rumour, too – but have no idea whether or not it is true!

Friday at the Deni Ute Muster headlining gig the fans were frenzied & ecstatic – there was crowd surfing and everything – a first for the band, at least in this century! The most amazing thing was the kids – they were totally into it!

Just goes to show that good music is timeless – just like Daddy Cool!

The band will be touching down in Melbourne any minute now after their Deni/Narooma gigs this weekend and I shall investigate Big Day Out rumours…Who knows? Maybe they’ll do an all ages gig! Stay tuned and watch Ross Wilson’s website too at www.rosswilson.com.au & www.myspace.com/daddycooltheband!

Cheers,

Karen
