Mixed Prints
Opening Wed 8th – Sunday 12 October at Fort Delta in the Captiol Arcade, 113 Swanston Street, Melbourne.
Mixed Prints is a collaborative Pop Up/exhibition over 4 days between two Melbourne design icons – Sara Thorn and Colin Sheppard.
Mixed Prints POP Up/Exhibition will present different print techniques for cloth and fashion exploring screen print, batik and its interface with fashion.
Part exhibition, part pop up store; there will be rare limited edition clothing/home wares, jewellery to purchase in an art house context.
Sara Thorn Project
Sara Thorn designer, artist has been busy creating new exciting & original fashion & home wares across hand screen prints & handmade batik.
Produced under the UNIQE BATIK by Sara Thorn label in Java…..Prepare for the batik Revival c/o textile nomad Sara Thorn!
Cushions crinkle silk scarves, crisp cotton shirts and oversize t-shirts will be available to purchase with an exhibition showing the processes of the mysterious batik technique. The pieces are quirky and interpret classic tropical iconography with a new pop ,sensual sensibility.
Sara Thorn Project is the new fashion label from Sara drawing influence from her earlier work in the eighties with Galaxy & Abyss. Bold ,graphic themes are juxtaposed with hand written spells and drawings of poodles with wings in a eclectic mix of hand screen prints on custom t-shirts, cat suits ,yoga wear and accessories .

doitbaby Factory is hand designed and hand screen printed. Every limited edition screen print is a unique wearable piece of art.
It is not mass produced, and does not threaten the environment; using 100% non toxic inks that are printed onto 100% certified organic cotton.
Every procedure in the making of these garments is carried out locally in Melbourne.
Colin has a history of hand painted sign writing and scenic art for both the home and the workplace. He works with Melbourne Theatre Company, painting sets and props in their scenic art dept. Brett has a Masters degree in Fine Arts – Printmaking.
