16MM LAUNCH WRAP AND GIG TONITE!

16MM LAUNCH WRAP AND GIG Saturday 4 November

Yo Music Lovers:

Here’s a message from 16 Millimetre:

Thanks to everyone who helped celebrate the EP launch. It was bigger, louder and more ravishing than anyone could have imagined. Special thanks to; Jess The East’s in-house engineer who took the brakes off and let the band explore the full intensity of 16mm’s sound, Xavier 16mm’s lighting tech inspired an outbreak of seizures and Ben the miscellaneous merch boy who recalled Tom’s past excursions in This Machine.

Oh yeah… and thanks to the anonymous person who grabbed the official band-cam for filming the night. Anyone with a fetish for Cara’s ankles and her delicate pedal action can get 20 minutes of uncensored footage. It’s a little disturbing. If your memory of the night is a little shady, virtual memories are now up at http://www.myspace.com/sixteenmillimetre.

This Saturday 4th November, 16 Millimetre is giving you the chance to prove that Australians are not disengaged from the Real Issues and that political fights are not solely reserved to men in flannies who like sausage sizzles. It’s time to ..Rock For Your Rights At Work.. with fellow belligerents David Bridie, D.Rogers, The Disappointments, Sime Nugent, Monique Brumby & Bom. Nov 4 at the Grand Central in Melbourne town. 16mm are on early 8.15pm.

So this Saturday rally your support, throw your fist up in the sky and bring a long neck. If fact if anyone who comes actually brings an empty Melbourne Bitter long neck they will get a 16mm badge and the first one through the door will get a drink on the band.

SHEH ANSARI, NELSON MANDELA AND A BLOG FROM OUTERSPACE, MAN!

First Female Private Space Explorer & Space Ambassador Anousheh Ansari, has been officially part of to the Soyuz TMA-9 primary crew. The first female spaceflight participant launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on September 18, 2006 and is now aboard the International Space Station (ISS) along with the Expedition 14 crew members: NASA astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin.

..By reaching this dream I’ve had since childhood, I hope to tangibly demonstrate to young people all over the world that there is no limit to what they can accomplish, said Anousheh Ansari, chairman and co-founder of Prodea Systems, Inc.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Nelson Mandela

Dear Space Cadets,

Anousheh Ansari is really something. She has written a piece Time-Life would kill for while still up in space!

Go here to be inspired: http://www.anoushehansari.com/ Worth visiting if only for the YouTube video links to be found therein, but I love the poetry myself.

If you’ve got any interest in space travel at all, it’s worth the time to read it.

BTW, it took them 2 days(!) to reach the station, and 3.5 hours to return to earth.

An absolute inspiration for us earthlings!

See you on the moon!

Cheers,

Karen

Bridget a’Beckett review – Drum magazine Sydney

Hey Popsters,

Bridget a’Beckett has just returned from an awesome mini tour of

The Bridget a’Beckett EP

The silky voice of this girl from Tumbarumba is as lush as her single’s
production. Her songwriting has a certainty and sophistication that
belies her bacdkground: there’s no country in this articulate selection
of classic piano based singer/songrwriter indie pop. A’Beckett is a
natural storyteller and she delivers those stories with an ease and
delicacy without ever slipping into the colloquial style of Missy
Higgins or the saccharine of Delta Goodrum, both of whom to which she
has been compared (although she shares a producer with the latter.)
Three’s a subtle earthiness that grounds it all and makes this EP a
real treat to the ears.
